Fourteen years old and already a veteran broadcast recorder for the Audio Information Network of Colorado (AINC), a non-profit volunteer-based broadcast and information service for Colorado's blind, visually impaired, and print handicapped residents, Luc Polglaze prepares a weekly 30 minute audio program in which he explores cultural questions.
Polglaze's program, Cultural Celebrations, is part of AINC's regular weekly statewide programming, and is shared with other reading-for-the-blind programs throughout the country. Polglaze has also read several programs for AINC's on-the-air broadcasts, including the New York Times book review.
Luc auditioned for the Audio Information Network at age11 and - because he was reading at the level of a "well-read adult" - was immediately accepted.
"I love volunteering. Volunteers are people who want to be doing what they are doing," he states.
Homeschooled, Luc has already done two semesters of college
level work at CU Boulder. He plans to continue his work for AINC and start full
time college in the fall of 2010 . . . at the age of 15.
