About Us
Established in 1969 as a division of United Way, Volunteer Connection was
one of the first volunteer information and referral centers in the nation.
Our mission is to engage and connect people as volunteers to service and nonprofit
agencies with volunteer opportunities and strengthen these organizations through
resources, training and education in Boulder County and surrounding areas.
We annually refer thousands of individuals, families, youth,
businesses, corporate and service groups to over 400 agencies and governmental
programs in need of volunteers.

(agencies, schools, faith-based groups and families) and is also available
on our website. Our Court-Ordered Guide is complied to accommodate volunteers
required to fulfill court-ordered community service hours. Our Holiday Volunteer
Opportunity & Donation Guide is created each fall and distributed to those
interested in opportunities and donation needs specific to the holiday season.
This guide is also available on our website in early November.
Business Connected Program
Volunteer Connection offers a variety of partnership opportunities to connect
companies with communities. We can assist you in identifying, developing and
managing a service project that will both meet your company objectives and
provide a rewarding and meaningful volunteer experience for your employees.
A donation to Volunteer Connection is requested in return for the research,
development and leadership of the service project. This donation helps fund
Volunteer Connection’s year-round programs. The overall benefit of community
service for the company, employees and our county has made these activities
a valuable part of the business environment.
MentorsMatter
MentorsMatter is an award-winning,
collaborative effort to promote the benefits of mentoring and to educate the
community about the needs of at-risk youth in Boulder County. The partner
organizations work together to recruit adults from the local population to
be mentors, advisors, and tutors for the many youth waiting to be matched
with a caring adult role model.
Mentors serve at sites throughout Boulder County including: Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette. Members of MentorsMatter include Volunteer Connection, Partners Mentoring Youth, “I Have a Dream” Foundation, Boulder County Department of Housing and Human Services, YWCA, Boulder County Community Services, The Mental Health Center Serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.
Annual Event
Volunteer Connection's annual I Volunteer! Day is a countywide
celebration of service that engages hundreds of volunteers in completing service
projects at numerous nonprofit and service agencies throughout Boulder County.
The event takes place each April in conjunction with National Volunteer Week,
Earth Day and Arbor Day. It is Volunteer Connection’s primary fundraiser.
The event is an opportunity for individuals, families, groups, businesses and corporations to get out into their communities, learn about various nonprofit and government agencies that serve Boulder County and give something back.
They have a great time, foster the ethic of volunteerism and raise funds to support the year-round efforts of Volunteer Connection. It epitomizes what Volunteer Connection has been doing for 40 years - connecting community members with community needs. What we accomplished with 300 volunteers in 2009 would have otherwise taken one person, working full-time, over six months to complete.
