Amber Rose
with Boulder Carriage House
by Lauren Berens

Amber Rose is a dedicated and hard working volunteer who has donated much of her time to Boulder Carriage House. Rose spends three and one half hours per week helping to serve food, run errands and work with clients on job and scholarship applications to get them back on their feet. "I have learned a lot about the homeless community and I have had the opportunity to learn that the typical stereotypes of homeless people are completely wrong and misleading," said Rose.

Rose notes that her favorite part about volunteering is the friendly people she meets; they always want to talk, tell a story, or just have some fun. "They really want you to be involved in their life and they want to be involved in yours. They love to build relationships," Rose said.

Not only does Rose put much of her time and energy into Carriage House, but she also has her own non-profit agency called Art Angels. Rose started Art Angels five years ago. Art Angels collects and gives art supplies to needy children. Rose is currently on a trip to Thailand for her non-profit business. She has also volunteered at the Children's Hospital once a week for four years.

"I have always worked with children, so volunteering at Carriage House has really opened my eyes to a different aspect of volunteering. It has been a wonderful experience," said Rose.
